kitchen decor: towels

Recently, I decided we needed new kitchen towels. Our had become frayed at the ends, discolored by stains, and didn’t quite match our kitchen decor. So, while I wanted to make sure the new dish towels matched and/or complimented our aesthetic, I also wanted to make sure they were functional and were absorbent, and wouldn’t easily fray when washed. It seems silly, but I actually put a lot of time and thought into the type of kitchen dish towels to buy.

As per usual, the first place I checked was Amazon, then I went to Target to see what they had, and finally, I checked Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Unsurprisingly, they all pretty much had the same linens, towels, and decor, so, of course, Amazon it was. Honestly, Amazon is just easier for me because I don’t have to worry about something being in stock, or finding parking at a crowded store. Once I decided on where to purchase my kitchen towels, I had to decide which brand.

Sticky Toffee Cotton Terry Kitchen Dish Towels

Thick absorbent kitchen dish towels made of 100% Oeko-Tex certified cotton

After looking at all the product reviews, I found the Sticky Toffee brand, which not only had a wide variety of designs and colors, it was also highly rated for it’s absorbency, durability, and longevity. It also had the exact shade of navy blue I was looking for. I did also buy a set of dish towels at Target that complimented the towels I bought on Amazon, I don’t like matchy matchy stuff, I prefer decor that is either made up of various shades of the same color, or complimentary and contrasting colors. In this case, the design aesthetic I went for was the one color various shades approach.

These aren’t as absorbent as the Amazon towels but they are good to use as hand towels and make a great kitchen decor accessory to the rest of my design

I’ve had the new towel set for several months and they have all gone through the wash 2 or 3 times and, so far, they have all stood up really well and I haven’t seen any fraying. I also haven’t seen any staining, at least no staining that won’t and haven’t come out in the wash. So, as far as product reviews go, these linens get high praise from me and I definitely recommend them to anybody else looking for new kitchen towels.

Do you have a favorite brand, when it comes to towels? I’m always looking for great bath towels as well.
