What I love most about what experts are saying about the fashion trends for summer 2022 is that they include pieces you can wear when you need to be “extra” as well as the easy and simple luxurious pieces that create those outfits you can mix-and-match, outfits you can throw together in a moment’s notice when you still want to exude casual chic vibes, and outfits for those more casual date nights. And, I mean, a girl needs to have options, after all. We can be beautifully complex and we need clothes that will be able to match the event and mood we are in.

We get to “be as wild and adventurous as we like with our spring and summer trends or, indeed, as basic as can be”, according to fashion expert Lianne Wiggins, head of womenswear at MATCHESFASHION.COM That means each of us can find pieces to dress however we like, this summer, rules be damned!

‘InStyle’ has a few trends to watch that seem fun. According NYC-based fashion stylist Shea Daspin, this summer will be all about embellishments Daytime sparkles, she says, are high on her list.

You can also think about giving basics your own twist and spin, to incorporate comfort and style while remaining right on trend. That can include anything from basic white lounge pants and a boyfriend top paired with funky, chunky jewelry, to wide-legged jeans, white tank top and high white tennis shoes, paired with diamond stud earrings, tennis bracelet, and silver thumb ring, or knock off versions of them all 🙂 And, like it or not, platform heels are back in and, honestly, I’m having some feelings about that one 😝

Now, platform shoes… That one is much harder for me to grapple with. Didn’t like them back then, not sure whether I will like them now. But, I am willing to keep an open mind about it. According to Who What Where, “stacked shoes, sandals, and boots were everywhere, during Fashion Week, from casual collections like the breezy bohemian look at Chloé to amped-up ranges like Versace's fun-fun-fun going-out looks. From foam-bottomed Velcro sandals and thick-soled flip-flops through to strappy, metallic, high-high heels, there's a little lift to be had, no matter what your personal preference might be.” I mean, that sounds cool so maybe I can get on board with the platform shoes, after all 🤷🏻‍♀️

The one thing I know for sure, any fashion trend that says, wear whatever the F_ck you want is a winner for me! And this one really is right up my ally, I may have a style aesthetic that makes up the bulk of my closet, but I also like more fashion styles as well; Street Style Fashion, BoHo Chic, Romantic, Classic, etc… so being able to mix things up is the ultimate freedom to dress in a way that best reflects who we are, complicated, messy, people with a desire to express who we truly are.
